Equipping our pupils for a rewarding life after school means a great deal more than helping them achieve strong grades and make a convincing application to higher education or the world of work. It entails developing the ability to embrace change, adapt and innovate. Each of these is nurtured at Bradfield, where great emphasis is placed on personal qualities, including the development of character and ‘soft’ or ‘employability’ skills.
Growth in all these areas comes through just about every element of school life. Crucially, we focus on primary experience and the development of interpersonal skills alongside the mastering of digital literacy. We do not assume such skills will develop equally for all pupils but assess them and target areas for individual improvement.
The Bradfield Horizons department offers careers advice and support for university application worldwide. It facilitates networking and work experience, and delivers workshops for application and CV writing, presentation skills, entrepreneurship and interview skills.
Old Bradfieldians have made their mark in numerous fields, from the sciences to the arts, from politics to sport, from the business world to the church, and from the media to the military. We are delighted to hear of their successes in all walks of life. We try to remain in contact with all our alumni and to help them keep touch with one another.
