The 1934 match report reads as follows;
‘On Wednesday, March 14th, the School played Radley on New Ground in a ceaseless torrent of rain. Considering the conditions, the standard of hockey was high. Bradfield were two goals up at half-time, through Ruperti and Murdoch, but early in the second half Radley scored through Birks, their captain. Bradfield, however, showed themselves to be the better side, and eventually won an interesting match by five goals to two’.
So, on Saturday 22 March when the U16As stepped on the pitch they did representing the College in a ‘175 Fixture’ and Roger Wall, Head of Co-Curricular, had prepared a special commemorative booklet to recognise this special occasion.
All the Bradield v Radley matches this weekend were, in the time-honoured fashion, competitive yet played with good spirit. Afterwards, players and parents were treated to specially 175 branded cakes for match tea.
