Colin Burgess’ retirement celebration seemed too good an opportunity to miss for a second gathering of the 1850 Society this year. Not least because Colin is a member of the 1850 Society, but also with so many
people returning to the College it was a fantastic social occasion and a great chance to raise awareness of the 1850 Society in the Bradfield community.
Simon Dixon (C 58-61) warmly welcomed all members, including Roger (A 52-56) and Patricia Plaskett who have recently returned to live in the UK from America. In the heat of the day everyone was delighted to go for a stroll down the pitches and to watch some cricket on Pit in a gentle breeze, notably Angus, Roger and Patricia’s dog! The tour then continued along the Pang and through the College before returning to the Chapel to catch the last of Colin’s organ recital. Thereafter followed tea, a glorious buffet in the marquee and an opportunity to wish a slightly embarrassed, but nonetheless appreciative, Ian White (E 56-61) a very Happy Birthday.
