Shell pupils recently enjoyed a day producing a team solution to a business challenge. The challenge focusses on developing employability skills such as teamwork, communication, and creative thinking.
Teams of pupils were presented with a choice of objects and were tasked with creating a business based on their chosen item, including creating advertising and marketing campaigns to promote their brand. We were extremely well supported by eleven Shell parents and partners of Bradfield who acted as both mentors and judges on the day.
The ideas that the year group produced were fantastic. The presentations, logos, websites, marketing campaigns, social media accounts and advertisements they created were of an extremely high standard. Five finalists delivered excellent group presentations with ideas ranging from a black-tie food delivery business, to a company that makes energy drinks tablet for performance athletes, to an online accountancy service for small businesses. The overall winners of the Shell Business Challenge 2025 were the team who developed ‘Demension Glasses’, glasses designed for people with dementia – controlled through an app to help people with dementia remember key people and events and live independent lives. An innovative and relevant concept, where the team delivered an excellent pitch presentation and answered questions from the judges and audience with real clarity.
