I am delighted to announce that Council has appointed Jeremy Quartermain to be the next Head of Bradfield from September 2025.

Jeremy has been Head of Rossall in Lancashire since 2018. Rossall is an HMC independent day and boarding school, currently educating over 830 girls and boys aged from 3 months to 18 years and offers both A levels and the IB. Jeremy has been an outstanding success in this position, and the pupil roll has increased very significantly in recent years. Similarly, academic outcomes at Rossall have improved markedly during his tenure.

Rossall regularly ranks first in the country for both golf and girls’ football and is now firmly established in the top flight for boys’ football, playing Bradfield in the final of the Boodles ISFA Cup in 2022. Earlier this year, Rossall formed a pioneering elite football partnership with Manchester City FC. Rossall’s strong reputation for music and the performing arts has also developed under Jeremy’s leadership, with the creation of an international piano academy and musical theatre programme. Prior to Rossall, Jeremy was Deputy Head (Academic) at Brentwood School in Essex (2013-18) and Head of Sixth Form at Gresham’s in Norfolk (2010-13).

Jeremy holds an MA in History from the University of Cambridge and an M.Phil. in Medieval History from Trinity College, Dublin. He has a special interest in music and plays the piano and bassoon. He was a choral scholar both at Peterhouse, Cambridge, and at Trinity College.

During a rigorous selection process, Council was extremely impressed by Jeremy’s passion for education and the range of skills and qualities he will bring to the position of Head of Bradfield. We are very confident that Jeremy is the right person to build upon the many successes of the last decade under Chris Stevens’ leadership.

Jeremy is married to Fiona, and they have three daughters, Alicia (13), Caitlin (11) and Teigan (7). We look forward to welcoming the Quartermain family to Bradfield in August next year.

Speaking about his appointment, Jeremy said: ‘I am delighted to have been appointed the next Head of Bradfield, and I am committed to building upon Chris Stevens’ superb legacy. As a family, we are incredibly excited by the prospect of joining such an outstanding community. Bradfield is an extraordinary school, and it has been an absolute joy to see children thriving in all aspects of their lives. Everyone whom I met throughout the interview process expressed an enormous sense of pride in Bradfield. It is a vibrant and caring school with real ambition and heart.’
