The Bradfield College Film Awards, the BRAFTAs, were a huge success again this year. To judge this year’s short films it was wonderful to welcome back some of our OBs who are currently working in the film and media industries; Benji Ikimi (A 00-05), Taichi Kimura (A 00-06), Rita Bernard-Shaw (I 13-15), Henry Boston-Crayfourd (H 11-16) and Harry Wallis (H 13-18).  They were joined by Caroline Connie Willis who has just completed her debut feature film ‘Shalbourne’.

Our esteemed judging panel reached their final decisions in record time.  The standard of the films were ‘better than the actual BAFTAs’ according to one of our judges! We are delighted to announce this year’s award winners:

  • Best use of Cinematography – ‘Foresight’ by Evie (K)
  • Best Production Design – ‘The Seedlings’ by Blake (G)
  • Best use of Sound – ‘Doll’ by Aryan (D)
  • Best use of Editing – ‘Cloned in Captivity’ by Teddy (F)
  • Best Pupil Performance in a Film – ‘Dissertation Deadline’ by Flynn (G) 
  • Most creative storyteller – ‘Bad Day at Work’ by Louis (H)
  • *Specially created new Judges award for Best Execution – ‘Twelve and Half Percent’ by Jared (D)
  • Most Original Film – ‘The Silence’ by Milla (I)
  • Best Overall film – ‘Bear’ by Scarlett (I)
  • BEKS Award (Teachers’ Prize) – ‘PTSD’ by Otto (A)
  • Audience Award – ‘Bear’ by Scarlett (I)
