IBDP EXAMINATION REPORT 2024
Our IB Diploma candidates have once again achieved excellent results, across a wide range of subjects. We are delighted to note our highest ever average points score from a fully examined session of 37. All of our candidates gained the full Diploma by reaching the requirements in all 6 subjects and by completing the valuable IB Core of Extended Essay, Theory of Knowledge and Creativity, Action, Service (CAS). 93% of all grades achieved were above a 5, with more than a fifth of our pupils scoring over 40 points (above the threshold for even the most competitive of universities) and over 90% scoring over 32 points, where Russell Group offers typically begin. One of our pupils even achieved the perfect IB score of straight 7’s with AA in the core, the first to do this in a fully examined session and the latest in our distinguished line of pupils to secure the maximum 45 points.
Aside from the numbers, we are incredibly proud of how this cohort has worked collaboratively and positively, in embracing the values of both the College and the IB Diploma. They have been open-minded, inquisitive and relentlessly hard-working. They have shown genuine ambition and perseverance and have been duly rewarded with opportunities at a range of excellent universities including: LSE, Oxford Brookes, UCL, Durham, Exeter, Lancaster, Bocconi, Swansea, Newcastle, Bath and Harvard. Several of our students have exciting plans for Gap years. All of them have a wealth of opportunity ahead of them, and we wish them the very best in taking the next steps in a lifelong journey of learning.

Director of IB
A LEVEL EXAMINATION REPORT 2024
Results this academic year are the highest in the school’s history of delivering the linear A Level, outside of COVID years. 76% of all grades were A*-B. 10% of all grades were A* and 38% A*-A.
This cohort’s performance mirrors the excellent return from those studying the IB Diploma Programme whose mean score was 36.5 points, with one pupil scoring the maximum 45 points putting them in the top 1% of all candidates globally. Again, these results present the highest results in Bradfield history outside of COVID adjusted years.
76% A*-B and 36.5 average point score gives the school an overall combined A*-B of 79%.
Perhaps even more important than the grade levels themselves, these results are testament to a group of young people who have thrived, having worked incredibly hard showing resilience and determination to reach their goals.
Four pupils secured 3 A*s or higher (AS level in parentheses) including Atticus who returned A*A*A*A*(A) and heads to Imperial to read Chemical Engineering and Barnaby who returned A*A*A*(A*) and is heading to Edinburgh to read Business Management.
The others in this category are:
William A*A*A*B(A)
James A*A*A*B(A)
A further 8 pupils secured 2 A*s:
Harry A*A*A A
Nathan A*A*A B (A)
Madeleine A*A*A (A)
Maisie A*A*A (A)
Joshua A*A*A (B)
Johnny A*A*A (B)
Georgina A*A* B(A)
Luca A*A* B
Considering our leavers’ university destinations more generally, 90% of UCAS and overseas applicants have secured places at their first-choice university and 6% have taken up their insurance offers. A handful of pupils are seeking places through clearing or planning to make applications during their GAP years. Places have been secured at top UK universities such as Imperial, LSE, UCL, Durham, Edinburgh, Bristol, Bath, Warwick, Loughborough, Exeter and Newcastle.
Although most pupils will take up places in the UK, it is very much an international arena with a significant group headed to universities overseas, including Havard (USA), Duke (USA), Bocconi (Italy), and McGill (Canada).
Elizabeth Wells, Deputy Head (Academic) said, “We are incredibly proud that the pupils’ work and determination which has led to these outstanding results, their scholarly approach and support for each other paid dividends.”
Dr Chris Stevens, Headmaster said, “This year’s leavers have set a fine example within and beyond the classroom and thoroughly deserve their success. Along with the outstanding staff who have supported the pupils’ endeavours, I congratulate them and wish them the very best for the future.”
