The Close is a senior boarding house of 60 boys. The resident Housemaster, Lawrence Beith, is supported by a team of seven tutors and two Matrons, Yasmin Beale and Kate Saudan.
The boys in The Close develop independence, self-reliance and confidence by taking responsibility and applying themselves with sustained commitment.
Lawrence Beith, HsM - The Close (H)
The Close is known for its welcoming and nurturing environment, where the boys enjoy strong friendships across the year groups with Prefects playing an active role in pastoral care. We foster diverse talents in academics, sports, drama, and the arts. With a focus and strive towards academic excellence, we encourage every boy in the house to pursue their ambitions and actively participate in a variety of co-curricular activities. We aim for the boys to leave the College as independent, self-reliant, and confident individuals, fully prepared for the next chapter. We achieve this by giving them responsibility and encouraging them to apply themselves with a sustained commitment to their pursuits.
The Close is a community where the boys are encouraged to embrace their potential while forming lifelong friendships. We aim to build an environment filled with respect, humility, and endeavour, ensuring that each boy feels a sense of belonging and is inspired to make the most of the opportunities at Bradfield.”
