St Andrew’s School, Pangbourne emerged victorious at the end of a competitive boys Prep Schools Hockey Tournament on a very chilly Monday (6 February).

During the first part of the day, the players were given some first class hockey training by our hockey staff with the help of some of our current first XI players. In the afternoon, the players from the ten participating schools put their skills into practice competing in a league format with each team playing nine 8-minute games.

The morning’s sunshine disappeared and made way for a windy and chilly afternoon. However, this did not detract from the hockey on show. It also didn’t deter the supporting parents who wrapped up warm and gave vociferous support from the side lines.

At the end of the tournament, St Andrew’s were crowned deserving winners. Jessica Brooker, Director of Hockey at Bradfield thanked all the players and their accompanying staff for their enthusiasm with Headmaster, Dr Stevens praising everyone for coming out to support a thoroughly enjoyable occasion.

After the awards presentation, players and parents alike were treated to some well-deserved hot beverages and cake.
