Earlier this term, the College was delighted to open a new dedicated strength and conditioning facility in Crundells to provide specialist-training facilities for our sports teams and elite athletes.
Located in the same quadrant as the sports complex and gym, the suite includes a ten-metre astroturf runway for a resistance prowler, three weight stations with benches and an elite glut-ham machine as well as racks of free weights, kettle bells, resistance bands and gym balls.
Speaking in the October edition of The Bradfieldian, Charlie Ellison leader of the Strength and Conditioning Programme said:
“The extra equipment and space will give us more options and variety while allowing us to train whole squads. This will undoubtedly create a stronger sense of team identity, which will go a long way towards continuing the success and performance levels of all our sports teams.”
On completion of the project, Julia Bond, Capital Projects Manager was delighted with the results:
“The College has, for a number of years, promoted and evolved its top sports teams and individual athletes. Following the recent successes of Bradfield’s major sports teams, we decided to invest in a stand-alone fitness suite, providing a space to accommodate entire squads of players.”
Since its opening in November, the boys’ football and girls’ hockey teams have already seen fantastic results, not just in the conditioning of individual athletes but also in terms of squad unity which is great to see.
